Aliza Akbar Intro To: Talking Colours
I observed the objects and colours in the Shepherd’s Bush Market for the first task. I explored with different mediums like pens, pencils, coloured pencils and pastels and I wanted to explore more with other mediums and materials like watercolour, acrylics and coloured paper but I was unable to access them in the first two weeks of classes. I do feel as though I explored colour successfully through my combination of working methods such as (collaging) of different colours layered on each other and using multiple mediums in one piece to show different perspectives of colour in one object. this task helped me to become more creative in my colour choice as it helped me understand how to take the usual colours from certain fruits and substitute that colour with an unrealistic one. while most of my pieces are very colourful, i think i could have incorporated a lot more colour into a few of my pieces.

I really enjoyed looking through your works about fruit in the market. I see you did lots of pencil sketches and line drawings. Also, the colours contain with the line drawings, it makes the fruit really vivid. Also, the style of abstract of the drawings are interesting too. I like the cover page of your drawings the most, it remains me a British artist called Mr. Doodle (Sam Cox). I think you can do more print designs like this. Also, I suggest you use more different art stuffs to do drawings. Maybe do more complex drawings and mix media. They will make your drawings more picturesque. In addition, the last drawings are interesting too. The mix of similar colours and the layouts are really beautiful. I think you are very good at use pencil drawings and crayons. Very good works!!!
