The task ‘Talking Colours’ allowed me to concentrate on documenting colour which I really enjoyed and I tried to view the objects and sceneries, I was drawing as blocks of colour combinations. For the first few weeks I didn’t have many art materials with me and so I felt quite limited, I was worried all my drawings would end up looking similar, especially as the task was about experimenting and finding new ways to document what you can see. I focused on drawing objects around me and tried to use my drawings as a way to narrate my first weeks in London although as we went into lockdown what I was able to draw from became more mundane and I wish I had made more drawings from outside of my room. I prefer the drawings that have more detailed, sketched outlines over the more simplistic drawings I did that concentrate on narrating colour because I think they would translate better to fabric. If I had the opportunity to do the project again I would try to be much more experimental and creative with drawing tools and also make larger scale drawings so that I could have more aspects of work that I could collate and develop ideas from.
