Helen Moffatt Talking Colours
The Talking Colour task has encouraged me to draw with more of a variety of media than I normally would. I’ve also looked at a range of subjects, pushing myself to notice my surroundings more, which I feel will help me in future design process. For me, the most insightful piece of work I did was an acrylic painting of a door. When doing this, I not only focussed on the vivid blue, but also on the ways in which the bright sunlight changed the way we see the colour on different parts of the door, which reminded me of Josef Albers’ colour theory, and his statement that “in visual perception a colour is almost never seen as it really is”. This has made me curious as to how I can apply his colour theory to my ideas and designs in the future.

I can see you did lots of fantastic work on this task. you tried different ways of drawing in the same scene, and I think that kind of way really helped in the design process. also, the color you used in your paint is strong and bold. It seems you already find your own style of drawing. just always keep an eye on your daily life and feel free to play with the colors!
