Uncategorised Jemima Slater : Ways of Seeing / Talking Patterns Jemima Slater ⋅ 26th November 2020 For this task I tried using a combination of drawing techniques with a variety of materials. I used coloured pencils to create loose, flowing lines, and then went over this with black fine liner pens creating more solid and detailed lines. I also used drawing inks to create blocks of colours and interesting shapes. I feel this project helped me to observe my subject matter in a different way and to approach drawing in a much freer way. I mainly looked at flowers when carrying out this task. I think in general I am usually more drawn to organic forms as subject matter for my drawings, so I’m not sure whether I should’ve challenged myself and looked at more structural subject matter, but I feel either way this has helped develop my drawing technique. I really enjoyed this task and I do like my outcomes; however, I feel I didn’t achieve the description of the brief, “Ways of Seeing / Talking Patterns” as well as I did for “Talking Colours”. Now looking at all of my drawings together there isn’t a lot of pattern to be seen and they all look quite similar to me, so I think I should have explored different subject matter a little bit or perhaps used a wider variety of materials. Overall I like my drawings and I really enjoyed this task, it has definitely helped my drawing.
