YAN LUO: TALKING COLOURS
This series of drawings are inspired from fisherman and fish market. The atmosphere of the seafood market and the variety of fish gave me a visual impact. Their colour are bright, such as red, yellow and blue. In order to express the feeling, I used various of drawing skills. I enjoy drawing pictures from a variety of materials. In addition, I like to use Crayon because of its vivid colour. In addition to the research of fishermen and seafood market, I also found some scenes of fishermen fishing and the tools they used, such as fishing nets. But I met challenge when I drawing fishing nets, it is hard to draw their details, so I use colour pencils. The final outcome of painting is pretty good, can be very detailed to depict, I also change the different colour to draw fishing nets, it is very interesting.
All in all, I enjoy drawing work. In next task, I will more focus on the colour, and use different collaboration. Also use mixed media to development my work.

I have thoroughly enjoyed looking at your work. You have experimented with a lot of different colors in a very effective way. The colors give such a vibrant feeling. It’s great to see various observational drawings in your project and that too with a lot of color. Also, I see there is one intricate line drawing, in which a man is standing I really like that one, it requires a lot of patience to make such drawings. Looking at your work I can see you have explored loads of media like paints, colored tape, watercolor and crayons being your favorite . I can also see the contrast between light and dark colors in your drawings which makes your work look balanced. Its lovely how you have made a few patterns taking inspiration from the fishes. The thing I liked the most in your project is the way you have drawn the textures of the fishing net….
It would be great if you could experiment with the net even more, by making new patterns… For example: scanning the net and zooming into it or by combing the net with the fish and making a new pattern altogether.
Overall, I really like your work, specially your colours. Also, your ‘ways of seeing’ work is great too the way you have researched on different doors and used different material to draw them on paper. All of your project looks very bright!
