Pippa Newport- Ways of Seeing / Talking Pattern
I really enjoyed looking close up at everyday things and noticing the details and beauty that we often miss. It was interesting to experiment with how different perspectives and angles can change a subject. I felt quite confident with using coloured pencil, chalk and oil pastel to layer colours and achieve my desired effect. I struggled with marker pens and watercolour as I am not very practiced at using them. I would like to experiment with different ways of using these media to find a style that works for me.
I enjoyed taking elements of my drawings and using them to develop pattern designs. I was particularly inspired by the shapes of the red cabbage that I drew and found it useful for using a variety of techniques, including hand and digital. I would really like to improve my digital skills as this limited what I could achieve with these designs.
