I really like your drawing style and how you’ve used a range of tight detailed drawings with more loose abstract mark making, especially the use of pastels to create a different texture, all of the colours work really well together and I like the themes of floral and architecture in your work, and how this is based upon the poorer areas of your environment and the effect this had on the rough tools you used. I can see for task two you’ve done drawings from different perspectives by zooming in on objects and your drawings look like they’ve been made for a textiles / pattern purpose. I like how you’ve clearly gone out of your comfort zone to use new materials and techniques and the range of processes can be seen in both of your tasks. In task 2 the start of a pattern project is clear maybe for future it would be nice to use some fabrics in your collages or layer with different textures. Overall, I love the project and your unique drawing style.
For this task I looked at a range of objects, including fruits, plants and places and I tried to draw things in a different way than I did for task 1, I found objects like the grapefruit and the pepper really interesting to look at and to draw, I like the different textures inside like the reflectiveness of the grapefruit in the light and the clusters of seeds in the pepper. I really like how things around me have natural patterns within them and that’s why I find them so interesting to work with, I focused on drawing things for more of a textile focus, picking out shapes and colours playing with collage and zooming in to see better details. I enjoyed this task and the way it allowed me to draw for more of a pattern and textiles purpose and I feel this will help me develop drawings for the course in the future as well as developing my print designs.
For this task I started by looking and examining things around me and things in my environment I chose to draw from natural forms around me such as plants and fruits as these objects interested me with their colours and textures. I have created a series of drawings looking at different things including landscapes, everyday objects, plants and architecture. These are things I found around me that I felt inspired by. I found the drawings really fun especially depicting the colours and textures of things like fruit and natural forms but the items such as the toothbrush I found quite challenging to draw in an exciting way. Overall, this task was a learning experience to try to draw lots of different things in different ways and I really feel like I have learnt more about observing and capturing things around me and this is something I want to use more in my drawings and all my print work in the future.
